Preparations For Independence Day: Delhi Police will install 1000 CCTV cameras in and around the historic Red Fort to monitor the Independence Day celebrations. A senior police officer said that the North, Central and New Delhi districts of the police and its security unit will install these cameras, which will help in monitoring the VVIP route to the monument. According to a document, 80 percent of the IP-based two-megapixel cameras and 20 percent of the IP-based four-megapixel cameras will be installed in every nook and corner of the venue. According to the document, the IP-based four-megapixel cameras will be installed at strategic locations and the time of their installation will be informed to the concerned Deputy Commissioner of Police.

There will be round-the-clock guard for security

“We are trying to ensure that kite flying does not take place during the Independence Day celebrations when the Prime Minister addresses the nation from this Mughal-era fort,” the official said, adding that the Delhi Police has kept the entire national capital. Security arrangements have been tightened, patrolling has been intensified and anti-subversive investigations are being conducted. He said that hotels, guest houses, parking lots and restaurants were being searched and the tenants and servants were being verified. Police said that the vehicles are being thoroughly checked and strict vigil is being maintained. Accordingly, meetings are also being held with the members of MWA and RWA. The police had on July 22 issued an order prohibiting flying objects like paragliders, handgliders and hot air balloons ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. This order will remain in effect here till August 16 for security reasons.
