Abrogation of Article 370 Third Anniversary: August 5 is a historic day for Jammu and Kashmir. Three years ago on August 5, 2019, Article 370 was removed from Kashmir. Article 370 was removed on this day for the purpose of development and connecting with the main stream, its glimpse was also seen on the day of the anniversary. Sometimes instead of pictures of youths being pushed towards a bleak future due to stone pelting, young men and women were seen playing sports in a glittering stadium.

On the third anniversary of the abrogation of 370, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has gifted Srinagar an international level football stadium. In fact, the centuries-old Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar has been given a facelift and upgraded to host national and international football tournaments. 44 crores has been spent on the stadium with a capacity of more than 20 thousand people. Both day and night matches and tournaments can be held in the stadium.

Stadium construction according to FIFA standards

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Manoj Sinha said that Bakshi Stadium has always been a dream destination for the youth who have made it so big in sports. The upgraded and renovated stadium is being handed over to the people who love sports. Manoj Sinha said- ‘It was PM Modi who had given clear orders that this stadium should be made according to the standards of FIFA. I am happy that we are handing over the stadium to the youth of the Valley. I am grateful to the Sports Council and all the people associated with it. I have hope and pride in the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for making India proud.

Decision to celebrate August 5 as Corruption Freedom Day

Also, it has been decided to celebrate August 5 as Corruption Freedom Day. Governor Manoj Sinha announced that August would be observed as ‘Corruption Liberation Day’. For this, time bound arrangements have been made for redressal of public grievances. The LG also flagged off the Great India Run Marathon from Lal Chowk in Srinagar to Delhi, once being used as a separatist base.
