The problems of Samajwadi Party leader and former UP minister Azam Khan are not taking the name of abatement. On the one hand, his legislature has already been cancelled. At the same time, he will not be able to even cast his vote in the Rampur by-election. Because his name has been struck off from the voter list. In fact, acting on the application of Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Akash Saxena, the Rampur Election Registration Officer has issued orders to strike Azam Khan’s name from the voter list.

By-election will be held in Rampur on December 4

Actually, Mohammad Azam Khan has been sentenced to 3 years by the MP-MLA court of Rampur. Along with this, a fine of Rs 2,000 has also been imposed on him. After this his legislature was cancelled. Now the by-election is to be held on December 4 on the Rampur assembly seat. Regarding this, the BJP candidate had given an application to remove Azam Khan’s name from the voter list.

SP fielded Azam Khan’s close aide

In the application, under Section 16 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the rule of deletion of names from the voter list was cited if electoral corrupt practices are proved. On the other hand, after the cancellation of Azam Khan’s legislature, the Samajwadi Party has given ticket to Asim Raza, a close aide of Azam Khan, in the election fray. Before this, he has also contested the Rampur Lok Sabha election. However, BJP’s Ghanshyam Lodhi defeated Asim Raza in the election by 42,048 votes.
