In this episode, Pakistan captain Babar Azam, keeping his side out of these 9 players, has selected a deserving person for this award. Pakistan will face England in the final on Sunday. Before that, the captain of the team Babar Azam has spoken of neither Virat Kohli nor Sam Karan but the player of his team together to be selected as the Player of the Tournament. You will surely be curious to know who is the one whom the Pakistani captain has put above the likes of Virat and Suryakumar Yadav.
ICC shortlisted 9 players
First of all, let us tell you that the 9 players who have been shortlisted by the ICC for this include two Indians, 2 Pakistanis, 3 from England and 1-1 from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Voting for this has already started. On the other hand, if we go on the basis of fans, then Virat Kohli can consider getting this award because there is probably no cricketer like him in the present time. At the same time, he has also been the top scorer in the tournament with 296 runs in 6 matches, including four half-centuries.
Giving his opinion on this, Babar Azam spoke in an ICC program and said, “I think the way he is playing, Shadab Khan should be the (Player of the Tournament) for his bowling tournament. He has been brilliant in me and has improved a lot in his batting as well. His performance for his brilliant fielding in the last three matches also makes him a major contender for the Player of the Tournament.” Shadab is the vice-captain of Pakistan and has so far taken 10 wickets in the tournament and scored 78 runs in 4 innings including a half-century.
It is worth noting that in the 9 players selected by the ICC; Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Sam Curran, Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Sikander Raza and Wanindu Hasaranga are to be named. Virat Jahan is the leading run scorer with 296. On the other hand, Hasranga is the leading wicket taker with 15 wickets. Both these players are quite ahead in their respective lists, after which it can be assumed that both of them are going to be on top in the list of bowlers and batsmen.
