Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday requested Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) Pankaj Kumar to increase vigil at the borders. He said that vigil should be increased on the state borders to check smuggling of narcotics and arms. An official spokesperson said that Pankaj Kumar met Mann at his official residence. During the conversation, CM Mann said that being a border state, Punjab is facing many challenges in view of smuggling of narcotics and arms.

The need to strictly stop the smuggling of drugs and weapons

CM Mann said that there is a need to strictly stop the smuggling of drugs and weapons, as it is a threat to the unity, integrity, security and sovereignty of the country. The Chief Minister said that even though there is no production of narcotics in the state, Punjab is still fighting the nation’s war against drugs. Mann said that the state is the transit route of drug supply and the state is fighting a tough fight to check drug trafficking in the country.

The need of the hour is to break the nexus of drug-gangster-terrorists

Mann said that careful planning and flawless strategy against drug trafficking by the BSF and Punjab Police can save the country from the “poison of drugs”. Mann said the need of the hour was to break the nexus of drug-gangster-terrorists who are trying to disturb the hard-won peace of the state. The Chief Minister assured the DG of BSF of his support and cooperation in this regard.
