BJP Attacks Congress: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted the Gandhi family in the National Herald case. The BJP launched a fresh attack on the Gandhi family, citing the biography of late Uttar Pradesh Congress leader Chandra Bhanu Gupta. Taking a jibe at the Congress’s proposed “Bharat Jodo Yatra”, the BJP termed it as “Gandhi Parivar Bachao Andolan”. Addressing a press conference held at the party headquarters here, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra quoted Gupta’s biography. He said the late Congress leader had also questioned the funding and purpose of the National Herald newspaper.

Glorification is the main objective of the newspaper

Patra said, “Chandra Bhanu Gupta, a prominent Congress leader and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has written his biography which has been published recently. He has raised many questions in his book regarding the financing of the newspaper. He wrote that glorification of Indira Gandhi and (Jawaharlal) Nehru was the main objective of this paper. The National Herald was not for the Congress but only for the glorification of one family.

Inherited Corruption

Patra alleged that Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former President Rahul Gandhi inherited corruption. “He (Gupta) has indicated that if there was a probe into the National Herald’s funding at that time, there would have been a bigger disclosure,” the BJP spokesperson said. He claimed that the probe agency was now probing the National Herald case and the Congress. has taken a disastrous stance. “The Congress tried to put pressure on the investigating agencies and now there is chaos in the party,” Patra said.
