Ashwini Vaishnav: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has assured a delegation of BJP members from Kerala that the matter of ‘Muthappan Madappuras’ will be looked into favorably. The ‘Muthappan Madappuras’ are a group of small temples dedicated to Lord Muthappa found on railway land in the northern parts of Kerala. Railway authorities have recently served notices to the management of ‘Madappuras’ adjoining railway stations at Vadakara, Kannur, Pappinissery and Kannapuram in North Kerala.
BJP delegation submitted memorandum to Railway Minister on temple issue
In fact, in a recent decision, the Supreme Court had ordered the removal of unauthorized constructions from railway lands. Based on this, a team of state BJP leaders led by PK Krishnadas met Vaishnav and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention in the matter. PK Krishnadas is also the Chairman of the Passenger Facilitation Committee (PAC) of the Ministry of Railways. According to a statement issued by the BJP’s Kerala unit on Facebook on Friday, the Railway Minister assured that he will examine what can be done in the matter after consulting legal experts.
