Ayodhya city will be developed as a model solar city. The decision to do so has been taken in the UP cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Apart from this, 16 municipal corporations of Uttar Pradesh and Noida will also be developed as solar cities. To be developed as a Solar City means that a minimum of 10 percent of the estimated total energy demand of the city’s conventional energy will be met by solar power plants installed in the city area. Under the policy, financial assistance will be given to Municipal Corporations, Noida City for setting up solar power plants by the state government at the rate of Rs.100 per person according to the 2011 census of municipal area.

Additional manpower will be created for the maintenance of the solar power plant. For this, 30,000 youths will be given training for maintenance of solar power plants and they will be named as ‘Surya Mitra’. In this way employment opportunities will be created for these ‘Surya Mitras’. The cabinet has also approved the permissibility of a state grant of Rs 15,000 per kilowatt, maximum Rs 30,000 per consumer by the state government, in addition to the central financial assistance available from the Government of India, on the installation of grid-connected solar systems with net metering at private homes. .

In this, a grant of Rs 800 crore has been approved every year during the policy period and a grant of Rs 4,000 crore in 5 years. Solar rooftop permits have been issued with net metering on the buildings of government institutions and all educational institutions in the state. Apart from this, Gram Panchayat / revenue land should be made available to government undertakings for setting up solar power park / solar project for 30 years at Rs. Rs. per acre per year has been approved to be made available on lease for a period of 30 years.

Under ‘Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy-2022’, a target of 22,000 MW power generation capacity has been set in Uttar Pradesh from solar power projects in the next 05 years. In this, 14,000 MW from the establishment of Solar Park, 4,500 MW from Solar Rooftop (Residential Sector), 1,500 MW from Solar Rooftop (Non-Residential Institute) and 2,000 MW power generation from PM Kusum Yojana components C-1 and C-2. Is. Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has been designated as the nodal agency for the implementation of the policy.

Establishment of solar park of 5 MW and above capacity

Capital subsidy at the rate of Rs 2.5 crore per MW will be provided to solar parks established with storage system of 5 MW or more capacity. With this, electricity can be supplied at the time of peak load by storing solar energy. Apart from this, a target has been set to generate 1500 MW of electricity by installing solar rooftop systems on the roofs of non-residential buildings such as government buildings and all types of government or non-government educational institutions. It has also been decided to provide net metering facility on solar rooftop systems installed on the roofs of non-residential buildings of this category.
