Chabahar Port developed with the help of India
The International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is India’s vision and the initiative aims to reduce the time taken for import-export to reach Russia and Europe and enter Central Asian markets. Chabahar Port has been developed with the help of India and it is the center of commercial traffic in Central Asia. India is also assisting in the development of a terminal at Chabahar Port in collaboration with the Government of Iran.
Sonowal reached the program organized on Chabahar Day
In an event organized on ‘Chabahar Day’ to promote the process of connecting Central Asian markets by adding connectivity between Chabahar and INSTC, Sonowal said, “This connectivity will not only enhance connectivity with Central Asian countries, Investments will also get a boost and our cultural and political ties will be further strengthened. And will get commercial access.
Significantly, the distance from Chabahar Port to India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan is very short. Chabahar Port is located in southeast Iran near the Gulf of Oman. From here it will take less time and fare to send goods for business in India. At present it takes 30-45 days for Kyrgyzstan goods to come from India by waterway. This time will be reduced to 14 to 15 days after the Chabahar port starts. Due to this the freight will also be less. Iran, India and surrounding countries will benefit more from Chabahar Port becoming the center of regional trade.
