- 44th Chess Olympiad is being held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Chess Olympiad: A big decision has come regarding the ongoing Chess Olympiad in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Hearing in a case, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu government to show photographs of both President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in all advertisements related to the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022. Let us tell you that Chess Olympiad 2022 is being organized in Tamil Nadu from 28 July to 10 August.
Action should be taken against those who tamper with advertisements
Along with this, the High Court has asked to take strict action against those who tamper with the advertisements containing the pictures of the President and the Prime Minister. This order of the court came after Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Sivagangai, filed a petition in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court also said that advertisements for the 44th Chess Olympiad to be held in Tamil Nadu should have featured the Prime Minister’s picture even if he was not in a position to participate.
Prime Minister inaugurated
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 44th Chess Olympiad amidst a colorful program at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. On this occasion, five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand handed over the torch of Chess Olympiad to PM Modi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. The torch was then handed over to Young Grandmaster R Pragnanand along with other chess players present.
Inaugurating the Chess Olympiad, PM Modi said, “No one loses in sports as there is one winner and the other is the future winner.” He further added, “Sports is beautiful because it has the power to connect people, society. It promotes teamwork. Two years ago, the world came to a standstill due to the arrival of the Corona epidemic, but at such a time, the game worked to connect the world. The game sent an important message that we are stronger together. I see the same sentiment here as well.
