Madkam had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head. Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bastar range Sundarraj P. said that on Thursday, a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Dantewada was sent on patrol on the information of Naxal activity in the forest of Nahni Gudra village in the border area of ​​Dantewada and Sukma district. . During this, the Naxalites fired on them, after which the soldiers retaliated. After some time the Naxalites fled from there.

He said that on Friday morning, when the security forces were in the forest near Bindrapani village of Sukma district, the Maoists once again started firing on the security forces. Later, when the security forces searched the spot, the body of a Naxal, arms and other items were recovered there. The Maoist has been identified as Rakesh Madkam, a member of Katekalyan Area Committee, he said. Madkam has eight cases registered against him and carries a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head. The operation against Naxalites is going on in the area, the official said.
