Congress Presidential Election: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has written to the party’s Central Election Authority chief Madhusudan Mistry, urging him to publish the voter list for the upcoming elections to the post of All India Congress Committee president. Sources gave this information on Friday. It is reported that Assam MP Pradyut Bordoloi has also written a letter to Mistry demanding that the voter list be made public. He has written the letters at a time when the demand for making the electoral rolls public is gaining momentum day by day and the debate on it has intensified within the party.

10 proposers involved in the nomination process

Sources said Tharoor, who is contemplating contesting for the post of president, wrote a letter to Mistry and demanded that the electoral roll be published. The nomination process for the election involves 10 proposers who will be the delegates of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC). Sources said the senior Congress leader has said that it is important to know about these representatives as their nomination papers may get rejected if their names do not figure in the final list.

Manish Tiwari also raised questions

Manish Tewari, Karti Chidambaram and Tharoor had also on Wednesday demanded that the electoral rolls be made public to ensure transparency. Along with Tiwari, who was part of the ‘G23’ group of Congress, Tharoor on Wednesday virtually raised questions on the non-publication of the electoral college list related to the election of the party president, saying that the entire process related to the election should be fair and transparent. needed. Tharoor, who has expressed his intention to contest for the party president’s post, agreed with Tiwari and said that everyone has the right to know who can nominate and who can vote.

Speaking at an event in Thiruvananthapuram, Tharoor said, “Of course I think it is important that everyone should have transparency on the electoral rolls. If Manish has demanded it, I am sure everyone will agree. Everyone should know who can nominate and who can vote. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

‘List cannot be made public’

However, Mistry has said that the entire process related to the election of the party’s president is fair, transparent and in accordance with the Congress constitution. He had earlier this week said that as per the party’s constitution, the list of electors cannot be made public, but can be made available to candidates. Congress MP Manickam Tagore responded to the leaders demanding that the electoral rolls be made public, saying they should not create confusion and should be proud of the “free system”.
