WTA Finals: French tennis player Caroline Garcia has won the singles title of the WTA Finals tournament. The 29-year-old defeated seventh seed Aryna Sabalenka 7-6, 6-4 in the title match. This is Garcia’s fourth title of the year and the biggest of his career.

The final of the last tournament of the season saw a tough fight between the two players and the first set ended in a tie-breaker. But Garcia took advantage of Sabalenka’s mistakes to win. After this, in the second set, Garcia dominated from the beginning and did not give Sabalenka any chance to make a comeback.

GarcĂa had a consistent performance in the eight-player tournament, winning straight sets against fifth seed Maria Saccari in the semi-finals. Let us inform that Garcia’s ranking was above 70 in June this year, but after that she won four titles and also reached the semi-finals of the US Open.

In the women’s doubles, Veronika Kudremetova and Alice Mertens won the match. The Russian pair defeated defending champions Barbora Krejcikova and Katrina Siniakova 6-2, 4-6, 11-9 to clinch the title. Kudremetova and Mertens were at one point trailing 7-2 in the tie-breaker but then went on to win the title with six consecutive points. Krejcikova and Siniakova won titles in the three Grand Slam events they competed in this year but failed to finish their season on a grand note.
