Gujarat Liquor Case: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has indirectly attacked the BJP in the case of deaths due to drinking spurious liquor in Gujarat. Expressing grief over the death of many people due to consumption of spurious liquor, Rahul Gandhi on Friday asked which ruling forces are giving protection to the liquor mafia in the state. Rahul Gandhi tweeted that, “Dry state” Gujarat, many houses were destroyed by drinking spurious liquor. Drugs worth billions of rupees are also being recovered there continuously. This is a matter of great concern. In the land of Bapu and Sardar Patel, who are these people who are doing drug business indiscriminately? Which ruling forces are giving protection to these mafia?

Significantly, in Botad district of Gujarat, the number of people who lost their lives due to drinking spurious liquor had risen to 42. Addressing a press conference in Gandhinagar, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi said that the police will file a charge sheet in the case in 10 days and the matter will go to the fast track court. “So far 42 civilians have died in Gujarat’s Botad district after consuming spurious liquor containing highly toxic methyl alcohol two days ago. Fifteen prime accused who sold liquor to people including the main accused who got the chemicals have already been arrested.

So far 15 people have been arrested in the case

Nine people admitted to various hospitals since Tuesday died during treatment. He said that about 97 people are still admitted in hospitals in Bhavnagar, Botad and Ahmedabad. Sanghvi said, “The police will file a charge sheet in the case in 10 days and the matter will be taken up in the fast track court.” He added that the government will also appoint a special public prosecutor in the case. Botad and Ahmedabad police on Tuesday registered three FIRs against around 20 people under sections 302, 328 and 120-B of the IPC. At least 15 people have been arrested so far in connection with the case. Vadodara Rural Police on Wednesday arrested Jatubha Rathod, the accused named in the FIR registered by Barwala police in Botad, who had fled after the registration of the case, an official said.
