Gurmeet Ram Rahim: Gurmeet Ram Rahim has got a big relief from the Punjab-Haryana High Court. Hearing on the petition challenging the decision to grant parole of Ram Rahim was held in the High Court today. In the hearing, the High Court dismissed this PIL. The High Court raised questions on the maintainability of this PIL. The court asked how a petition against a human being can be treated as a public interest litigation. The High Court directed the Haryana Government to dispose of the representation of HC Arora within a week.

Ram Rahim has got parole many times before

It is to be known that Gurmeet Ram Rahim is out on parole from the court. Ram Rahim was lodged in Sunaria jail since 2017. Let us tell you that the controversial Baba Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim has got parole from jail many times in the past. Significantly, Gurmeet Ram Rahim is serving a 20-year sentence in Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail in the Sadhvi sexual abuse case. Even before this, Ram Rahim (Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim) has got furlough and parole. He has been given parole this time also as per the jail manual.

Women’s Commission had demanded to send Ram Rahi back to jail

Let us tell you that recently, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chief Swati Maliwal wrote a letter to PM Modi demanding that the culprits of Bilkis Bano and Gurmeet Ram Rahim be sent back to jail.

‘Existing rules and policies too weak’

The commission had recommended that the issue of premature release of the convicts of Bilkis Bano and Gurmeet Ram Rahim be taken up with the respective State Governments and Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. So that the culprits of rape can be given their full punishment and the parole of Gurmeet Ram Rahim can be canceled. The commission had also recommended action against senior officers of the Haryana and Himachal Pradesh governments who participated in Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s programs.

Terming these incidents as very disturbing, the commission’s chairperson Swati Maliwal said that the existing rules and policies in the country regarding exemption, parole and even furlough are very weak.
