Gurugram: Woman injured in dog attack in Haryana’s Gurugram will get compensation. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum on Tuesday ordered the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to pay an interim compensation of Rs 2 lakh to a woman who was injured in the attack by a pet dog. The forum also said that this compensation can be recovered from the owner of the dog if the MCG so desires.

In fact, on August 11, the victim Munni, who worked as a domestic help in the locality, was attacked by a dog belonging to a person named Vineet Chikara when she was going to work with her sister-in-law. In this attack, Munni had serious injuries on her head and face and was referred from Civil Hospital in Gurugram to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
In the FIR registered at the Civil Line police station, the breed of the dog has been described as ‘Pitbull’. The owner later revealed that the breed is a ‘Dogo Argentino’. The forum directed the MCG to seize the dog and cancel the dog-keeping license of Vineet Chikara with immediate effect.
It also directed the banning of 11 foreign breeds of dogs and directed the MCG to place all stray dogs in animal shelters after impounding them. The forum also directed the MCG to frame a policy for pet dogs within three months.
