Voting to elect Sarpanchs and Panchs in the second phase of Panchayat elections in 9 districts of Haryana has started on Saturday morning. Elections are being held for the posts of 2,683 sarpanches and 25,655 panches in 57 blocks of Ambala, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rewari, Rohat, Sirsa and Sonipat districts, officials said. Voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.

Polling has been done in these districts of Haryana

Officials said that 48,67,132 voters are registered in the second phase of polling. He said that there are 5,963 polling stations in these districts out of which 976 are sensitive and 1,023 are very sensitive. The second phase of voting for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti of these nine districts was held on November 9. In Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Panchkula, Panipat and Yamunanagar, polling was held on October 30 for Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis and on November 2 for election of Sarpanches and Panchs.

Voting for the third and final phase is yet to be held
In the remaining districts of Haryana, the third and final phase of voting for the election of members of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samitis will be held on November 22 and for Sarpanchs and Panchs of Gram Panchayats on November 25. The results of the election of Sarpanch and Panch will be declared at the end of voting in each phase, while the results of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be declared after the completion of all three phases on November 27.

More than 69 percent voting in the second phase
On the other hand, in the second phase of Haryana Panchayat elections, more than 69 percent voting was held on Wednesday last Wednesday for the election of members of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samitis in nine districts. Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh had informed that till 7.30 pm, 33,44,672 voters exercised their franchise, which is 69.1 percent of the total electorate in these nine districts.
