IND vs ENG T20 World Cup 2022: India suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. Batting first, Indian batsmen scored 168 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. England had a target of 169 runs in 120 balls for victory, which they easily achieved. England achieved this target in just 96 balls with 24 balls to spare. The embarrassing thing for the Indian team was that during this time he could not take a single wicket of England. The English opening pair of skipper Jos Buttler and Alex Hales continuously washed the Indian bowlers from start to finish. Even a target of 200 might not be enough in front of the attitude of these two. But Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid believes that the Indian batsmen should have scored 180-185 runs while batting first on this pitch.

Head coach Dravid said, “The runs on the board in the semi-finals were something important. We were batting well. We were one of those teams who were scoring 180-plus in the tournament even in these conditions. I think We did it two or three times. We were playing well in the World Cup.”
Dravid blamed the small total on the pitch
England beat India
Dravid did not say openly but he also blamed the Adelaide Oval pitch for Team India’s small total. According to him, the starting pitch was slow and the ball was coming to a halt on the bat.
Dravid said, “Maybe when the game started, the players were saying that it was a little difficult, because the pitch was a little slow. But they bowled really well. I thought they were really good. We felt that 15 We were probably 15 to 20 runs short by the over.”
Virat-Hardik’s innings dwarfed by Butler-Hales’ innings
In the semi-final, England kept India on the back foot in every department of the match, as a result Rohit Sharma & Co suffered a humiliating defeat. Especially the English openers outplayed India in the powerplay of the first 6 overs with their batting. In this match, the pair of Butler and Hales shared a partnership of 170 runs. In which the English captain scored 80 runs in 49 balls and Hales scored 87 runs in 47 balls.
In this match, Virat Kohli scored 50 runs in 40 balls while Hardik Pandya added 63 runs in 33 balls. But the half-centuries of Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya fell short in front of the quick innings of Hales and Butler.
