Railways have come up with an idea to avoid any accident due to the driver falling asleep. 99 percent people do not know this system of railways. Indian Railways is the fourth largest rail network in the world and the second largest in Asia. You know that the whole train is controlled by one engine. The engine of the train has a driver, who is called a loco pilot. Imagine what would happen if he fell asleep. Will the train be the victim of a major accident?

There are two drivers in the train

You must be aware that thousands of passengers travel in a train simultaneously. In such a situation, the railways have come up with an idea so that there is no accident due to the driver falling asleep. Actually, apart from the driver in the train, there is also an assistant driver. If a driver falls asleep or there is some other problem, the assistant driver wakes him up. In case of any serious problem, it is reported at the next station and the train is stopped. After this a new driver is given in the train from the station.

What if both drivers fall asleep?

If this question has come in your mind that what will happen if both the drivers fall asleep. So the chances of this happening are very less though. But still the Railways has installed ‘Vigilance Control Device’ in the engine of the train for this. This device keeps in mind that if the driver has not responded for a minute, then an audio visual indication comes within 17 seconds. The driver has to accept it by pressing the button. If the driver does not respond to this indication, automatic braking starts after 17 seconds.

train stops automatically

The railway driver has to repeatedly increase the speed and blow the horn while running the train. It can be said that the railway driver is fully active while on duty at all times. In such a situation, if he does not respond for a minute, then the railway sends this audio visual indication. If there is no response from the driver’s side, then the train stops at a distance of 1 kilometer. Then other railway employees present inside the train take cognizance of the matter. In this way, railways prevents major accidents from happening.
