Indian Weightlifters in CWG: Six days have passed since the ongoing 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and hundreds of medals have been distributed in different sports. From India’s point of view too, the journey so far has been mixed. India has won a total of 18 medals in six days, including five gold medals. Although India has got maximum medals in weightlifting. According to statistics, Indian weightlifters have captured a total of 10 medals including three golds. The last match of weightlifting was played on Thursday and here also India got two medals in its account. Indian weightlifters won one more medal this time than the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This time 48 medals were at stake in the Commonwealth Games. Whereas a total of 15 players took part in different categories from India. Out of these 10 players won medals, while one player finished fourth. Apart from these, four players could not do anything special. India left other countries far behind in terms of winning medals in weightlifting. The host England, which won the second highest number of medals, could also win only five medals.

Indian weightlifters performance

Mirabai Chanu, Jeremy Lalrinnunga and Achinta Sheuly won gold for India. While Sanket Sargar, Vikas Thakur and Bindiyarani Devi won silver. While Gururaja Pujari, Harjinder Kaur, Lovepreet Singh and Gurdeep Singh bagged bronze medals. Apart from these, Ajay Singh missed out on bronze by a margin of one kg and finished fourth.

Let us inform that earlier in 2018, 16 players from India participated in the Commonwealth Games played in Gold Coast. 9 players won medals in this.
