Indian Wrestlers Gold Medals CWG 2022: Indian wrestlers won both the bout and the heart in the Commonwealth Games. Indian wrestlers had won three golds on the eighth day of the Games, so why stay behind on the ninth day? Wrestlers on Saturday also put three more gold medals in India’s bag. With this, the maximum six gold medals came in India’s account from wrestling. Pajrang Poonia, Sakshi Malik and Deepak Poonia won the gold medals on the first day of the wrestling matches, while on the second day it was started by Ravi Dahiya.
Ravi Dahiya won fourth gold in wrestling
Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya first made it to the semi-finals by defeating New Zealand wrestler Suraj Singh 10-0 in the quarterfile of the men’s freestyle 57kg category. Dahiya defeated Pakistani wrestler Ali Asad 14-4 in the semi-finals by technical preference to ensure his silver medal by making it to the final. In the final, he faced a wrestler from Nigeria. Dahiya once again won the gold medal by winning 10-0, securing the technical preference. This was India’s 10th gold medal.
Vinesh Phogat won fifth gold in wrestling
Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat competed in the 53kg freestyle category with only four wrestlers present, so the Nordic system was used. Phogat won two back to back matches, in which Canada’s Samantha Stewart could hold on to the match in front of her for a while. In the final, she faced Sri Lankan wrestler Chamodaya, whom she stunned with a score of just 4–0. With this victory, he put India’s 11th gold medal in the bag.
Naveen got 6th gold in wrestling
Indian wrestler Naveen made it to the quarter-finals by defeating Nigerian wrestler Emmanuel John first in the men’s freestyle 74kg category. He then defeated Singaporean wrestler Hong Lu 10–0 in the quarterfile to secure his place in the semi-finals where he faced England wrestler Charlie Bowling. He made it to the final after defeating the English wrestler 12-1. Now his silver medal was confirmed. Indian wrestler defeated Pakistani wrestler Tahir 9-0 in the final to win the gold medal. This was India’s 12th gold medal.
