The incident took place on Thursday when the plane was about to take off with 98 passengers. However, the flight was canceled after the incident.

Indigo clarified

Clarifying on this matter, Indigo airline said in a statement, “IndiGo flight 6E-757 operating from Jorhat to Kolkata skidded off the runway during takeoff. The pilot was informed that one of the main wheels had partially moved in the grassland adjacent to the runway.” The pilot stopped the aircraft following the necessary procedures as a precaution and asked for an investigation. IndiGo’s statement said, “The aircraft was taken for examination. No abnormal condition was detected during the initial investigation. As a precaution, the maintenance team has started a thorough inspection. Currently the flight has been cancelled.

Passengers remained upset for several hours

An official of the Airports Authority of India said that the Kolkata-bound IndiGo flight was canceled after it was halted for several hours due to a technical problem in Jorhat. “There was some technical problem with the plane. There were 98 passengers in it. All passengers disembarked and are safe. They were waiting in the terminal building and the flight was canceled at around 8.15 pm.” Earlier, a local journalist uploaded a picture on Twitter in which a plane skidded off the runway and its two wheels were in grass. Looks trapped in the field. Tagging IndiGo, the journalist posted, “Guwahati Kolkata Indigo flight 6F 757 (6E 757) skidded off the runway at Jorhat airport and got stuck in a muddy ground. The flight was scheduled to depart at 2.20 pm, but the flight got delayed after the incident.” Responding to his post, IndiGo said, “Sir, we are concerned to hear this and are immediately placing it before the concerned team. ‘
