INS Vikrant : Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the country’s first indigenous warship INS Vikrant to the Indian Navy in Cochin. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was also present with him on this occasion. Built at the Cochin Shipyard in Kerala, the construction of this aircraft carrier has cost Rs 20,000 crore. Experts believe that the official induction of this aircraft carrier will double the strength of the Navy.

Describing Vikrant as huge and colossal in his address on the occasion, PM Modi said that this ship is a testament to the hard work, talent and commitment of 21st century India. He said- ‘Vikrant is huge, Virat is, he is a giant. Vikrant is special, Vikrant is also special. Vikrant is not just a warship. It is a testament to the hard work, talent, influence and commitment of 21st century India.

India’s rising spirits shout: PM Modi

Starting his speech, PM Modi said- ‘The whole of India is witnessing the sunrise of a new future on the coast of Kerala. This event, being held on INS Vikrant, is a tribute to India’s rising spirits on the world horizon. He said – ‘If the goals are short, the journeys are long, the oceans and the challenges are endless – then India’s answer is Vikrant. The incomparable elixir of the elixir of freedom is Vikrant. Vikrant is a unique reflection of India becoming self-reliant.

Airfield floating more than warship: PM Modi

Referring to the specialty of Vikrant, the Prime Minister said – ‘It is more of a floating airfield than a warship, it is a floating city. The amount of electricity it generates can light 5,000 homes. Its flying deck is also larger than two football fields. The number of wires used in it can reach Kashi from Cochin. It is a symbol of indigenous potential, indigenous resources and indigenous skills. The steel installed in its airbase is also indigenous.
