Jharkhand News: On Monday, the second day of the Monsoon session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, the House had to be adjourned due to uproar by the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs. Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs created a ruckus in the House demanding ‘drought-hit’ status for the state. Due to this the Speaker of the Assembly had to adjourn the proceedings of the House twice. As soon as the proceedings of the House began at 11 am on Monday, BJP MLAs dressed in the traditional attire of farmers came to the center of the House and created a ruckus, disrupting the Question Hour.

The uproar intensified as the Chief Minister entered the house.

The ruckus intensified as the state Chief Minister Hemant Soren stepped inside the house. Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto and Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam assured that a special discussion is scheduled on the matter later. Despite this, the BJP MLAs continued to protest. After this, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings till 12.30 pm. Later the proceedings were resumed at 12.35 am. During this, Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon presented a supplementary budget of Rs 3,436.56 crore for 2022-23. During this also the uproar of BJP MLAs continued and the Speaker once again adjourned the proceedings till 2 o’clock.

Recently, BJP Kisan Morcha had staged a sit-in demonstration

The state is facing drought due to lack of rain. On Wednesday, the BJP Kisan Morcha staged a sit-in in front of the Collectorate demanding that the state be declared drought-hit without delay and to provide relief to the farmers. Kashinath Mahato, the state vice president of BJP Kisan Morcha, specially participated in the sit-in demonstration program organized under the leadership of Kisan Morcha District President Ramanand Sahu. After the dharna-demonstration, a memorandum related to the eight-point demands was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner in the name of His Excellency the Governor.
