Jharkhand Politics: The huge cash recovered from three Congress MLAs of Jharkhand was not related to Assam but from Kolkata. A senior CID official gave this information. Congress has already suspended these MLAs. A senior official of West Bengal’s Crime Investigation Department (CID), probing the case, insisted that the three MLAs were working under a larger conspiracy at the behest of some people. The money recovered in the case was earlier said to be from Assam. The CID official did not give any details about the alleged larger conspiracy. He merely stated that the recovered money was “only part of a larger conspiracy”.

‘The MLAs were acting on the instructions of some people’

“The money recovered is related to Kolkata. The MLAs were acting on the behest of some people, who have some big plan regarding this. It is worth mentioning that the Bengal Police had recovered Rs 49 lakh in cash from a vehicle on Saturday. Three Congress MLAs – Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap and Naman Bixal Kongari – were traveling in this vehicle. The MLAs were then arrested and produced before a court, which sent them to 10-day custody of the CID. After this entire episode, the Congress had suspended the three MLAs.

Congress’s allegation on BJP

The Congress on Sunday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to topple the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led government in Jharkhand by paying Rs 10 crore each to its MLAs. The BJP, however, has denied the allegations. The ruling Trinamool Congress party in West Bengal has also leveled similar allegations against the BJP. According to the CID official, “The three MLAs had gone to Guwahati with a middleman, where a deal was struck with an influential person.

The MLA was staying in a hotel in Kolkata

The trio then took a flight to Kolkata and stayed at a hotel on Sadar Street. Another Youth Congress leader was waiting for him at the hotel, who met a businessman here and got him money from his office. The MLA had stayed in the hotel without sharing his personal information. The hotel manager has been called for questioning. Efforts are also on to trace the Youth Congress leader, he said. The police have also obtained the footage of the CCTV installed in the hotel, so that the activities that took place there can be traced.
