- Fee will be charged for watching ‘Namo Ghat’
- Smart city company implemented token system
- Opposition opposed the decision
Kashi Namo Ghat: There are 84 old ghats in Kashi, but there is no fee to roam here, but now the lovers of sitting on the banks of the Ganges will have to loose their pockets. Yes, Smart City Company has implemented Entry Token System at Namo Ghat (Window Ghat). Under this, entry will be available here only after paying 10 rupees, that too for only 4 hours. SP and Congress have opposed this decision of Smart City. The SP has termed it arbitrary. Social media users are also asking what kind of tradition has started in PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency on the elixir of independence.
‘Will help in the maintenance of the ghat’
An official statement has not yet been issued by Smart City in this matter. But smart city officials say that the crowd at Khildikaya Ghat was overcrowding, so it has been decided to impose a ticket of Rs 10. Rs 10 is not a lot and it will help in the maintenance of the ghat. Let us tell you, two years ago in the month of July, there was talk of levying fee on the priests, cultural events and aarti of the Ganga Ghats. Then there was fierce opposition to this decision of the Municipal Corporation. After which the then Minister of State Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari had said that no fee would be charged.
‘Namo Ghat’ built at a cost of 35.83 crores
There are 84 Ghats in Kashi. Phase-1 of ‘Namo Ghat’ (Window Ghat) has been prepared near Malviya bridge of Rajghat at a cost of 35.83 crores. Now it has become the new center of Kashi tourism. PM Modi had come to Varanasi on July 7 last. He was supposed to hand over the Namo Ghat to the public, but at the last minute it was left out of the list of releases. The PMO was told that when all the development work of the ghat is completed, only then will it be inaugurated. The Prime Minister will not inaugurate the half-finished work.
