Guwahati: A big update has come in the case of sexual abuse and murder of a 13-year-old minor girl in Assam. State Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma has said that a magistrate was arrested on Friday for “not performing his duty” in the case of sexual assault and murder of a girl in the state’s Darrang district. The victim girl, who worked as a maid, was found hanging at her employer’s house in June.
Sharma praised CID fiercely
Apart from the main charge of SSB jawans, several other government employees, including the then Superintendent of Police, an Additional Superintendent of Police, in-charge of the concerned station and 3 doctors, have already been arrested in the case. The Chief Minister appreciated the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for conducting the investigation in a very professional and scientific manner. “The magistrate was arrested today. ‘Officers didn’t follow rules’

A SIT was formed by the CID to probe the matter, which on Thursday said that local magistrate Ashirwad Hazarika is absconding.
