MNREGA Scam: A case of embezzlement of more than Rs 21 lakh under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA) has come to light in Nuh district of Haryana. The police have found some ‘job cards’ issued in the name of the deceased. Police on Monday registered a case against nine people, including employees of Panchayat and Irrigation Department and two bank officials. Local villager Sukhbir Singh had filed several complaints on the government’s public grievance and Haryana CM Window Portal alleging that under the MNREGA scheme in Nuh, the amount was being released in the name of people who had died about two-three years ago. Is. Nuh Superintendent of Police Varun Singhla said that a case has been registered at Rozka Meo police station under relevant sections and action will be taken under the law.

Rs 73,000 crore allocated under MGNREGA for 2022-23

Every day there is a case of rigging in this scheme. In view of this, earlier this year there was news that the central government is preparing to make MNREGA strict, because during the last two years there have been many irregularities or rigging in the rural employment program under this scheme. An official had informed that the Center has allocated Rs 73,000 crore under MGNREGA for 2022-23, which is 25 per cent less than the Rs 98,000 crore given in the Revised Estimates (RE) for the current fiscal. The allocation for the next financial year is equal to the Budget Estimate (BE) for the current financial year.

middlemen doing fraud

The official said the allocation has been much higher than BE in the last two years and it was found that there was tremendous ‘forgery’ and middlemen were taking money to register the names of beneficiaries under the scheme. The official said, “Direct Benefit Transfer has been successful in reaching the money directly to the person, but still there are middlemen who are telling people that I will put your name in the MGNREGA list, but after the cash transfer, that amount will be returned to me.” Have to give This is happening on a large scale.
