National Herald Case ED Raids Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticized the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) raids on the National Herald newspaper’s headquarters and other premises on Tuesday, calling it a symbol of the central government’s panic. Gehlot said that no matter how much the central government may try to defame the Congress through ED, but in the end truth will win.

No money transaction: Gehlot

Ashok Gehlot tweeted on Tuesday, ‘The raid on Herald House by ED is a symbol of the anger of the Central Government. After torturing (Congress leaders) Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the name of interrogation, the ED is now taking such action to save itself from embarrassment. Gehlot wrote, ‘There is no transaction of money in this whole case, so how can there be money laundering. The ED had closed the case in July 2015, but the Central Government transferred the then Investigating Officer and put pressure on the new officers and initiated action in retaliation.

Truth will win – Gehlot

He said, “No matter how much the Central Government may try to defame Congress through ED, in the end truth will prevail.” Raids were carried out on Tuesday at 12 places in New Delhi, including the Herald House, the headquarters of the Herald newspaper.

Can’t silence us – Jairam Ramesh

Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “The raid at Herald House is part of the continuing attack on India’s main opposition Congress. We strongly condemn the politics of vendetta being done against all those who speak against the Modi government. You cannot silence us. The ED on Tuesday raided 12 places here, including the headquarters of the Congress-owned National Herald newspaper, as part of a money laundering probe. Officials gave this information. Officials said the raids are being conducted under criminal sections of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to collect additional evidence to ascertain between whom the money was transacted. The ED had recently questioned Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi and some other Congress leaders in this case.
