Nitin Gadkari on Electric Buses: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has emphasized on reducing the use of diesel fuel in the country’s public transport infrastructure. He also said that passenger tickets for electric buses can be 30 percent cheaper than those for diesel buses.

Gadkari said during a program in Indore on Monday that the road transport corporations of the states across the country can never be profitable because their buses run on expensive diesel. “I am speaking with full responsibility that the passenger tickets for AC buses running on electric can be easily up to 30 per cent cheaper than those on diesel buses,” he said.

‘Government moving ahead on plan to run 50,000 electric buses’

Gadkari said that the central government is going ahead with the plan to run 50,000 electric buses across the country. He said, “We need to change the country’s transport system with a visionary mindset. Instead of petrol and diesel, use of cheap fuels like electricity, green hydrogen, ethanol, bio-CNG and bio-LNG in vehicles is encouraged more and more. must be given.”

Gadkari also said that it is very important to reduce the cost of construction works in the infrastructure sector with the help of state-of-the-art technology, but the entire government machinery is not used to it. He said, “Politicians should think 50 years ahead, because many government officials do only patch work (resolving a problem in an instant). They only think about the work of today, because they think that what is to come. He will be transferred in days.”

Laid foundation of five road projects costing 2,300 crores in MP

Gadkari laid the foundation stone of five road projects in Madhya Pradesh costing Rs 2,300 crore during the programme. According to officials, these projects will improve road connectivity of Madhya Pradesh with Maharashtra and southern states and will also increase employment and investment opportunities.

Road Transport and Highways Minister also announced approval for construction of 20 flyovers in Indore, Bhopal, Sagar, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ratlam, Khandwa, Dhar, Chhatarpur and Vidisha on the demand of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Gadkari said that since the year 2014 till now the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned projects worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore for the country of Madhya Pradesh and before the end of 2024 this figure will increase to Rs 4 lakh crore.
