Odisha News: The body of a POCSO court judge was found hanging in his official residence in Cuttack, Odisha. Judge Subhash Kumar Bihari was on leave for the last two days and was scheduled to resume work on Friday. However, his Steno Rabi Narayan Mohapatra told that the judge had once again applied for leave from work today. Mohapatra said the judge called him this morning and asked him to write a leave application. However, a few hours later, he got the news that the judge was unwell and was being taken to the hospital.
The judge’s wife and two daughters had gone to the local market. When they returned at one o’clock in the afternoon, the main gate of the house was found closed. Sources said that when they forcibly opened the door, they found the judge hanging from the fan. Police reached the spot and Bihari was first taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. However, the exact cause of his death has not been revealed yet. Police has started investigation regarding the incident.
According to the police, prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Zone 3, Cuttack Tapas Chandra Pradhan said the judge had marks on his neck, which are due to hanging. There are also scratch marks on his body. Pradhan said that after the post-mortem, further investigation will be done to confirm the cause of death. The judge’s brother Subodh Bihari said that there was not much conversation between the two as both were busy with their respective work. However, he said he was unaware of any problems within the family of the judge in Cuttack.
