Partha Chatterjee: A woman threw a slipper at Mamta’s former minister Partha Chatterjee, arrested in the multi-crore teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal. Partha Chatterjee was being taken for medical treatment when the woman angrily threw her slippers on Partha Chatterjee. The woman says that the poor man earns money so hard and he is doing corruption and roams in a big car, so in anger I threw the slippers.

On the other hand, Partha Chatterjee on Sunday claimed that the money recovered during the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids does not belong to him, and time will tell who are involved in the ‘conspiracy’ against him. When reporters questioned him about the scam, Chatterjee said, “The money (the amount recovered) is not mine.” Asked if anyone had conspired against him, he said, “You will come to know when the time comes.” He has ‘never been involved in such transactions’. According to ED officials, around Rs 50 crore in cash has been recovered from two apartments of Arpita Mukherjee, considered close to Chatterjee. Also, gold was also recovered, the value of which is being assessed.

I was a victim of conspiracy – Chatterjee

Earlier on Friday, Chatterjee, 69, had said that he was a victim of a conspiracy and expressed displeasure over the Trinamool Congress’s decision to suspend him. “This decision (of suspending me) may affect a fair investigation,” he had said. Chatterjee, once considered close to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, said of the move to remove her from the minister’s post, “Her (Mamata’s) decision is right.”

Chatterjee was relieved of his duties as minister in charge of various departments and suspended from the party on Thursday. He has also been removed from all party posts. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership objected to the former minister’s comments, saying that Chatterjee himself was responsible for his own destiny. TMC’s state general secretary Kunal Ghosh had said on Thursday, ‘Why was he silent for the last few days after his arrest? He has every right to approach the court and prove his innocence. The party has nothing to do with this scam.
