G20 Summit Indonesia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a series of bilateral talks with world leaders at the G20 summit in Indonesia today and brief them on India’s evolving G20 priorities. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra gave this information on Sunday ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Bali. Foreign Secretary Kwatra said that PM Modi will review key elements of bilateral engagement with these world leaders during the Bali summit.

Why is this G-20 summit important for India?

The 17th G-20 summit is considered very important for India as India will preside over the G-20 for a year starting from December 1. During the presidency of the G20, India, Indonesia and Brazil will be a trio. This is the first time in the G20 that the trio will include developing countries and emerging economies. Heads of states from other countries including India, China and the US will attend the G-20 summit. During this, extensive discussions are expected to take place on global challenges including the Russia-Ukraine conflict and its implications. Indonesia will hand over the chairmanship of the G20 to India at the closing ceremony of this annual conference. India as the next President will try to give a bigger voice to issues of global interest. With this, the G20 will take forward the agenda.

Eyes will be on meeting Rishi Sunak
PM Modi will also meet leaders of 10 countries of the world along with the G-20 summit. The most important meeting in this is the meeting with British PM Rishi Sunak. India has high hopes from this meeting. At the same time, whether PM Modi will meet the President of China or not is not yet decided. PM Modi will attend 20 programs during his 45-hour tour. Special preparations have been made in Bali to welcome PM Modi. PM Modi will also address people of Indian origin on 15 November.

Which big leaders will be involved?
The G20 summit will also be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron. PM Modi is attending the summit at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin is not attending this conference, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Vachurali will attend.
