Rahul Gandhi: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit out at the Center and the state government over the seizure of narcotics in Gujarat in the last few months and questioned who are the people in the double engine government who are involved in drug and alcohol abuse in the state. Protecting the mafia? He also said that there is law and order in Gujarat or is there a ‘mafia ki sarkar’? Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “3000 kg of narcotic substances worth Rs 21,000 crores were seized on September 21 last year at Mundra port in Gujarat. On May 22, 56 kg of narcotics worth Rs 500 crore and on July 22, 75 kg of narcotics worth Rs 375 crore were recovered.

Is this mafia government?

The Congress leader asked, “Who are the people sitting in the double engine government who are continuously giving protection to the drug mafia and liquor mafia? Why are the youth of Gujarat being forced into drugs? How is the consignment of narcotics landing at the same port continuously, despite the seizure of narcotics thrice at the same port? Has law and order ended in Gujarat? Mafia has no fear of law? Or is this a mafia government?

Collusion with the mafia?

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted, “Intoxicants worth about Rs 22000 crore seized thrice from the same port in Gujarat. Silence in the media, lethargy in the government, all the agencies of the government in silence. Mafia is distributing narcotics all over the country from under the nose of BJP government. Is law and order helpless or is there collusion with the mafia?

Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) last month seized around 75.3 kg of heroin, estimated to be worth Rs 376.5 crore, from a container near Mundra port in Kutch district. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had in September last year seized around 3,000 kg of heroin, believed to have come from Afghanistan, from two containers at the Mundra port and was worth around Rs 21,000 crore in the international market. At the same time, in April, the DRI had seized 205.6 kg of heroin worth about Rs 1,439 crore from a container near Kandla port in Kutch. Some people have also been arrested in these cases.
