Punjab Police has advised 3 Hindu leaders, Amit Arora, Yogesh Bakshi and Nishant Sharma, not to step out of their homes in view of the threat to their lives. The police have also advised him to change the phone number. Policemen have gone to the homes of these leaders and given them free bulletproof jackets.

Hindu leaders in Punjab are getting repeated threatening phone calls from Canada and Pakistan. Earlier, the Punjab Police used to take these threats lightly, but after the murder of Shiv Sena (Taksali) President Sudhir Suri on November 4, the police swung into action. Sudhir Suri was given ‘Y’ category security, and his security guards were present at the time of the murder. Now the police have advised most Hindu leaders not to come out of their homes.

Shiv Sena Hind president Nishant Sharma told India TV that he has received several threatening calls after the murder of Sudhir Suri and has lodged a complaint at Kharar police station in Mohali. When India TV correspondent Puneet Parinja was talking to Nishant Sharma, he got a call from an unknown person. The man said to Sharma, ‘Tell your family to be ready, because you will also go. Sudhir Suri also used to say that no one can kill him, but we shot him in the chest. We know that you will also come with your gunman.’

Another Hindu leader from Punjab Amit Arora is on target of terrorists. He says, ‘I have received several threatening calls from the Sikh for Justice organization based in Canada and the Punjab Police has given me a bulletproof jacket. What shall I do with this jacket? Sudhir Suri was accompanied by security personnel, yet he was murdered. We want the Punjab government to take immediate action against pro-Khalistan outfits.

The fear of Hindu leaders is justified. Another Hindu leader Neeraj Bharadwaj said, “These bulletproof jackets are not for security, but the police are giving them jackets to evade their responsibility.”

Punjab Police officials say that no gangster connection has been found so far behind the murder of Sudhir Suri, while Canadian gangster Lakhbir Singh alias Landa Harike claimed responsibility. Police say that Landa took this responsibility only because he wanted to spread fear only to run his extortion racket. Police officials say that Suri’s murder is apparently a ‘hate crime’ as no gangster connection has been found after questioning the killer, Sandeep Singh alias Sunny. Sunny was arrested after Suri’s murder. The murderer Sunny is in police remand for seven days.

The truth is that the Punjab Police has found the involvement of gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa and the module of Pakistan based terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda behind several major crimes committed in the state during the last one and half year. These crimes also included the attack on the Intelligence Headquarters of Punjab Police in Mohali with a rocket propelled grenade. Recently, a video surfaced in which Gopal Singh Chawla, a pro-Khalistan pro-Khalistan living in Pakistan under the protection of ISI, congratulated Suri’s killer and threatened to kill Amit Arora, Nishant Sharma and farmer leader Gursimran Singh Mand.

Hindu leaders do not agree with the claims of Punjab Police. Hindu leader Amit Arora says, ‘I survived the attacks in 2016 and 2020 but the Punjab Police is not paying attention to the threats being given to us. Sudhir Suri was murdered in broad daylight. Hindu leaders are getting threats daily. Pakistan based terrorist Gopal Singh Chawla is threatening me and two other leaders. I have received thousands of calls. I am not picking up the phone because of threats, yet the government is sleeping. The Punjab government should tell whether Hindus can live in peace in Punjab or not.

While some are seeing this as an attempt at Hindu-Sikh confrontation, there is a ray of hope that Hindu leaders are clearly saying that no power in the world can divide the brotherhood between Hindus and Sikhs. Hindu leaders say that Hindu and Sikh are two sons of one mother, but they are sad that the Punjab government is showing complete apathy in dealing with Khalistan supporters.

I think the attitude of Punjab Police on this issue is quite strange. A Hindu leader was killed in the presence of the police and now the police find themselves so helpless that they are advising Hindu leaders not to step out of their homes and providing them with bulletproof jackets. The responsibility of the police does not end here. Has the Punjab Police left Hindu leaders with God?

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should answer these questions. They have to tell where the responsibility of the police begins and where it ends. Or, will he say, stick the picture of Lord Hanuman on the bulletproof jacket and Bajrangbali will protect you? Such a joke with the lives of Hindu leaders in Punjab must stop.
