IPL 2023: The auctions of IPL 2023 will be done from 23 December. On Tuesday, all the teams have submitted their list of retained players. RCB has retained a total of 18 players for next year’s IPL. Glenn Maxwell is also included in these players. Maxwell could not do anything special in the T20 World Cup. At the same time, Maxwell had also become a victim of injury during a party. It was being speculated that he would not even play the IPL. But team director Mike Hesson has given an update on his injury.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Director of Cricket Mike Hesson on Wednesday said that he has received information that injured all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will make a comeback before the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). An aggressive batsman and off-break bowler, Maxwell has been ruled out of Australia’s ODI series against England. Maxwell is likely to be out for up to 12 weeks after breaking his leg in a freak accident. Maxwell suffered the injury during a friend’s 50th birthday party and underwent surgery on Sunday.

Hesson said in a video shared by RCB that, “There is a bit of concern about Glenn Maxwell, with a broken leg, he is moving towards the retention phase.” We wish him a speedy recovery. “We have information that he will make a comeback and play cricket much before the IPL. Having a three-dimensional player in the team is very important in terms of balancing that team.
Maxwell, who joined RCB ahead of IPL 2021, has been a key member of the team. After his impressive performance with the bat in the 2021 season, the franchise retained him for Rs 11 crore. Maxwell scored 301 runs in 13 matches last season. Hesson also lauded veteran wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik for his impressive performance as a finisher last season. He said, “We are very comfortable with Faf, Virat and Finn Allen and Rajat Patidar in the top order. We see this as a really strong top order which we can make changes if needed.
Hesson said, “DK (Karthik) has done very well for us in the role of finisher last year. We look forward to his presence. The experience he brings is really valuable.” RCB released only four players Anishwar Gautam, Chama Milind, Lavnith Sisodia and Sherfine Rutherford ahead of the mini auction. Maxwell may also not be able to play in the Big Bash League, which runs from 13 December to 4 February.
