India will participate in two major meetings in the Foreign Ministers’ meeting to be held in Uzbekistan. The first of these meetings is the SCO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The second meeting will be an international conference on Afghanistan. The foreign ministers will meet on 28 and 29 July.

Bilawal had advocated friendship with India

After the formation of the new government under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif in Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto had expressed his desire to have friendly relations with India again. Bilawal Bhutto strongly advocated the restoration of relations with India. He had said that breaking ties with New Delhi is not going to be in the interest of the country as Islamabad is already isolated internationally. There was a lot of bitterness in the relations between India and Pakistan under Imran Khan’s government, but now Pakistan seems to be taking steps to improve these relations. Sources say that Pakistan, on the pretext of the SCO summit, is hoping that it will hold a meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister on the issue of Kashmir and is preparing for it.

Terrorism important issue for India
However, there is no sign of India-Pakistan bilateral meeting on the sidelines of SCO yet. As far as talks with Pakistan are concerned, India has consistently maintained that terror and talks cannot go together. Meanwhile, Jaishankar’s participation in the SCO is yet to be officially announced.

Chinese Foreign Minister will also attend the meeting
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will also attend the meeting. Jaishankar is likely to hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to review the outcome of the recent 16th round of talks between military commanders of India and China to resolve the standoff along the LAC in eastern Ladakh. In such a situation, if bilateral talks take place between the two countries, then the way for a possible meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi can also be cleared.

The two leaders are expected to attend the SCO summit on September 15 and 16 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
