More than one revelation is happening in the murder of Shraddha Walker, which the whole country is shocked to hear. Shraddha’s live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawala cut her body into 35 pieces after strangling her to death. Then put them in the forest. This massacre reminded of the same horrifying story of 2010, in which another woman was murdered like Shraddha. There are many similarities between the two murder cases. Then 36-year-old Anupama Gulati was murdered by her husband Rajesh Gulati in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. After killing Anupama, the killer used an electric cutter to cut her body into 70 pieces.

There was a fight between the two

Delhi-based Anupama was married to Dehradun-based software engineer Rajesh Gulati in 1999. Both had gone to live in America. The couple also had two children, both born in America. Then after six years in 2006, these people returned to India. The family settled in Dehradun but everything was not going well in the relationship between husband and wife. Anupama accuses Rajesh of having an affair with a woman from Kolkata.

Anupama’s body was cut into 70 pieces

Anupama and Rajesh used to have frequent fights and it happened on October 17, 2010, which shook the entire nation. Rajesh slapped his wife, after which her head hit the wall. She fell unconscious. Rajesh was afraid that she might complain against him to the police after she wakes up. He used pillows to kill her. Then Rajesh brought an electric cutter and cut his wife’s body into 70 pieces. Which he kept throwing in a drain at Mussoorie turn on Rajpur road for a few days.

adopted the method of Aftab

Shraddha’s social media was used for weeks to cover up Aftab Poonawalla’s murder. So that everyone feels that he is alive. Similarly, Anupama’s husband also used to send messages from Anupama’s mail id to mislead her family and friends. He had told both his children and even the neighbors that Anupama had gone to Delhi. The murder came to light in December. When Anupama’s brother could not contact her for several days, she lodged a complaint with the police.

frozen body parts

Like Aftab Poonawalla, Rajesh also kept his wife’s body parts in the fridge. Police had recovered several body parts, including Anupama’s head. Found in deep freezer.

Rajesh was sentenced to life imprisonment

In 2017, a Dehradun court found Rajesh guilty of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15 lakh. Former Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police GS Mertolia, during whose tenure the Anupam Gulati murder case was unearthed, said people who kill like this cannot be considered ‘normal’. Mertolia had said, “In my entire career, I had never seen a case like this where the killer had brutally tortured a dead body.” Such killings do not happen suddenly. The signs start to appear in the form of fights and acts of domestic violence, she said.
