Tamil Nadu News: A 32-year-old man has been arrested from Erode in Tamil Nadu on charges of having links with the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS). The arrest was made after about 10 hours of interrogation of the accused by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Arrested from Manikampalayam Housing Unit
Erode North police on Wednesday arrested 32-year-old Asif Mujabdeen on suspicion of his involvement in a terrorist operation. Acting on a tip-off, the NIA on Tuesday night raided the house in the Manikampalayam housing unit in Erode suburb and detained Mujabadin and his friend Yasin, 33, for questioning. NIA personnel along with the local police interrogated the duo for over 10 hours and the central agency verified laptops, mobile phones and other documents recovered from Asif Mujabadin’s house.
Close ties to ISIS
The agency found that Asif Mujabadin has close links with ISIS. Based on the complaint lodged by the NIA, the police of Erode North under sections-121, 122 and 125 of the IPC and sections 17,18A,20,38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prohibition) Act, 1967 (UAPA). Registered and arrested Mujabadin. He was produced before the Judicial Magistrate from where he was remanded in custody. At the same time, the local police is still interrogating Yasin.

Akhtar Hussain was living in Tilaknagar area with 3 friends since February 2020. Following his arrest, the CCB produced Lashkar in a special court, which sent him to 10-day police custody.
