  • Mahan Dal and Democratic Party Socialists came close to SP
  • OP Rajbhar was called ‘parasitic creature’
  • After the departure of Subhasp, both the parties came close to the SP

Uttar Pradesh: After the exit of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SubhSP) from the Samajwadi Party (SP)-led alliance, the two regional parties, which had parted ways with the former, are showing interest in getting closer to the SP. The People’s Party-Socialist and Mahan Dal, which had contested the last assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh along with the SP, broke away from the alliance after not getting the expected success in the elections. Now after the Subhaspa split from the SP, the Janwadi Party-Socialist who has some influence among the OBC voters is praising SP President Akhilesh Yadav.

The Mahan Dal has also expressed its desire to rejoin the SP alliance, praising Akhilesh. However, the condition for this is that Swami Prasad Maurya should be expelled from the SP. Sanjay Chauhan, National President of Janawadi Party Socialist said, “We are and will be with Akhilesh ji.” Chouhan had accused Akhilesh of not campaigning in support of party candidates in the by-elections to Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha seats held last month and said he would reconsider retaining the alliance with the SP. But now his tone has changed.

Rajbhar is a ‘parasitic creature’

To a question whether he had a meeting with the SP president recently, Chouhan said, “We keep meeting and discuss programs to strengthen the party for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. We will be in Lucknow in September.” Will organize a big event.” Chouhan criticized Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party President Omprakash Rajbhar and said, “Rajbhar has no ideology or principles. He is a ‘parasitic creature’ and does politics for personal interest. Looking after the interests. Had the SP made his son a member of the Legislative Council, he would have remained in the alliance for some more time.” Chouhan, who hails from the Other Backward Classes named Nonia Chauhan, had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Chandauli seat on a SP ticket and was defeated by a very small margin. He got around five lakh votes. Nonia and its associated castes have about 2.3% voters in the total population of the Other Backward Classes of the state.

Swami Prasad Maurya must go

Meanwhile, Keshav Dev Maurya, the national president of the Mahan Dal, who had left the SP alliance in the past, said that he has no complaint against Akhilesh Yadav nor is he bothered by his politics. In Uttar Pradesh, there is BJP on one side and Akhilesh Yadav on the other side. Congress has no meaning, while BSP president Mayawati is acting like the B team of BJP.” When asked about the possibility of a comeback in the SP alliance, Maurya said “till Swami Prasad Maurya with Akhilesh Yadav”. Till then it is not possible. I will work hard and eat Swami Prasad Maurya Malai. If Akhilesh has affection for me then he should remove Swami Prasad Maurya from the party. Only then will I return.”

Swami Prasad Maurya, who had a good hold in the Maurya fraternity, was a cabinet minister in the previous BJP government of the state, but just before the assembly elections, he left the BJP and joined the SP. However, he was defeated from the Fazilnagar assembly seat of Kushinagar. Keshav Dev Maurya alleged that the BJP infiltrated the SP-led alliance of Swami Prasad Maurya, Shivpal Yadav and Omprakash Rajbhar before the last assembly elections, due to which the alliance suffered losses in the elections. On future strategy, Maurya said, “We are not a big party. We are not in a position to get a single MLA on our own but I will go with the party which will consider me as a leader.”

Regarding his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav, who described Akhilesh Yadav as politically immature, Maurya said, “Shivpal Yadav could not prove himself. He was given a bungalow by the BJP government and he is working on the behest of the same party. Akhilesh is the biggest leader of the SP and Yadav fraternity and if one drop (Shivpal) separates from him then it will not make any difference.” The Mahan Dal was formed in the year 2008 and its influence is believed to be in Rohilkhand and some areas of western Uttar Pradesh.
