Amit Shah honored that India’s great freedom fighter and revolutionary Venkaiah, countless fighters who sacrificed their lives in the freedom movement, got lost in the darkness of oblivion, today they have neither name nor any identity. He further said that on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Culture is trying to take the unsung and unsung heroes of such freedom to the masses and take their role from the revolution of 1857 to the independence of 1947. organizing a campaign. Amit Shah appealed to the countrymen that everyone should be a part of this campaign.

By whom was the design of the flag prepared?

Venkaiah was one of the big supporters of Mahatma Gandhi. After completing his early education from Madras, he did his graduation from Cambridge University. It is said that Venkaiah met Gandhi in South Africa. At the same time he participated in the Anglo-Boer War. This is where the friendship of Gandhi and Venkaiah started. Venkaiah was very much interested in flags and he always used to study the tricolor of different countries, Gandhi was very impressed after seeing this, after which Venkaiah was asked by Gandhi to make the national tricolor in 1916. Venkaiah did research on the tricolor of different countries from 1916 to 1921 and the tricolor was designed. After which it was accepted as the national flag on 26 January 1950.

Who was Venkaiah?

Pingali Venkayananda was the father of the Tricolor of independent India. Pingali Venkayananda was born on 2 August 1876. He was an agricultural scientist by profession. Venkaiah worked in Ravel for some time. He had good knowledge of English, Hindi, Telugu, Sanskrit and Japanese languages.

Where was the first flag hoisted?

Before independence, we had hoisted the flag even amidst the slavery of the British. According to historians, it was first hoisted in the country on 07 August 1909 at Parsi Bagan in Kolkata. The revolutionaries did this to humiliate the British and accepted it as the national flag. At that time the colors of the flag were red, yellow and green. There was a flower on the green stripe, Vande Mataram was written on the yellow color and the moon and sun were made on the red color.
