Weather Update: Several parts of Delhi received rain on Thursday, bringing respite to the people of the city from the scorching heat and humid weather. The areas in the national capital that received rain included Lajpat Nagar, Greater Kailash, Jangpura, parts of Lutyens’ Delhi, Rohtak Road, Anand Parvat, Zakhira, ITO, Lodhi Road and areas around India Gate.

Water logging in many places

Due to the rains, some low-lying areas of the city were waterlogged and traffic was affected in other areas including Anand Parvat, Rohtak Road, Zakhira, Kirari and Lajpat Nagar. The Delhi Traffic Police also informed the people about the impact of traffic on various roads due to rain and waterlogging and advised them to plan their travel.

“Traffic is affected due to waterlogging on New Rohtak Road from Anand Parvat to Zakhira Road & Street No.10, near Anand Parvat. Please refrain from plying on these routes,” the traffic police tweeted.

Rain increase in many areas of North India

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon is likely to continue to move northwards gradually and due to this there has been an increase in rainfall in many parts of North India from Wednesday. The Lodhi Road Observatory received 1.2 mm of rain between 8.30 am and 11.30 am on Thursday. According to the IMD, the minimum temperature in Delhi on Thursday was recorded at 26.7 degrees Celsius, which is one degree Celsius below the average temperature.

It will rain in UP and Bihar for two days

With the progress of Monsoon northwards, there is going to be an increase in rainfall over North India. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains can be seen in UP and Bihar for the next 2 days from today. The weather in UP and Bihar was almost dry till July 19, while light rain has occurred in both the states since July 20. However, now both the states are likely to receive heavy rains from July 28.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Lucknow from today till July 31. Today it will be cloudy in Ghaziabad. Also, there may be rain and thundershowers.

It will be partly cloudy in Patna today. There is a chance of rain and thundershowers or dust storms. According to IMD, Bihar’s capital Patna may receive heavy rains till August 1. While Bhagalpur is likely to receive heavy rains till July 30 and Muzaffarpur is likely to receive heavy rains till July 31.

Yellow alert in Uttarakhand

Due to the forecast of heavy rains in some parts of Uttarakhand, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain in Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, Chamoli districts today. Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
