Wimbledon Rule Change: Wimbledon is considered to be the most classical and most traditional tennis tournament. But with the changing times, this tournament is also changing. The journey of Wimbledon, which never stopped after the Second World War, came to a standstill in 2020 due to the increasing infection of the Corona virus. Another big change is going to be seen in it only after two years. The Wimbledon tournament, played at the All England Club in London, will not be the same before 2023.

Special discount for women players

During the Wimbledon 2022 press conference, Nick Kyrgios of Australia came wearing colorful shoes. This shoe of Kyrgios created a stir among the organizers who were punctual of the rules, there was a lot of ruckus. The same Wimbledon has decided to relax the mandatory rule of wearing white clothes. The All England Club has allowed female players to wear colored ‘undershorts’ during the Wimbledon tournament.

Wimbledon allows colored undershorts after medical advice

Wimbledon strictly follows the rule of wearing white clothes for all players in its grasscourt Grand Slam tournaments. But the All England Club said it had decided to update its rules after discussions with the WTA, clothing manufacturers and the medical team. According to tournament organisers, this will make menstruating women players feel more comfortable.

The rule of undershorts shorter than the skirt will continue

According to the new rule, women players can now wear “dark or slightly dark colored undershirts, provided they are not longer than their shorts or skirts”. Rest of the rules will remain same. “We are committed to supporting players and listening to their feedback on how they can perform at their best,” said Sally Bolton, chief executive of the All England Club.

He further said, “We hope that by relaxing this rule, the anxiety of the players will be relieved, so that they can concentrate completely on their performance.
